Brand of the Week 11: Obey Clothing
Company: Obey Clothing
Website: www.obeygiant.com
About: Starting as a street artist, known for the Obey Giant concept, Shepard Fairey eventually launched Obey Clothing to share art in an affordable form to buying actual prints.
Why I like them: I am a huge fan of great art. Also I am a fan of people who put their views (even if they differ from mine) into intelligent images to convey concerns or perspectives in a cohesive manner. Anna and I have a butt load of shirts, as she stated, 'we wear a lot of Obey." It comes with good reason.
Where to Buy:
Obey Clothing Shop
Karmaloop
Notes: I recommend checking out the Obey website from time to time to get the scoop on the latest collaborations with other companies.
Essentials: Straight Leg (Updated)
I am a firm believer men should have at least one classic pair of fitted straight leg jeans within their wardrobe. These will forever be around as they have defied time and trend. Skinny jeans are too hipster. Loose jeans are too gangster. Straight jeans are just right.
To give the best effect the jean is best worn snugly around the hip without the use of a belt. Sagging is a big no-no. Also the optimum leg opening size is 16 to 17 inches as they create a very linear shape. Never buy jeans that are slightly too long as they bunch up at the bottom near the shoes, which distorts the silhouette.
Being a fanatic for the straight, I find myself constantly searching for a new pair to add to my collection. Currently I am tracking these G-Star Astro Straight jeans as a future purchase.

For Sale: WeSC Hiba Legwarmers $15
These are WeSC Hiba leg warmers worn only a handful of times. Anna complained that they are extremely tight fitting, which when she took them off there would be imprints of the elastic band on her legs. If you have thin legs consider these a warm purchase for the cooler climates. Click pictures to see larger versions. Email me if interested.

Sneaker Pimp: G-Star Samovar Hi-Top
G-Star Raw is probably my favorite denim company. The brand has such an array of different products that are experimental and perfectly finished. G-Star has moved into doing incredible shoes to compliment their clothing line. Here is the new Samovar Hi-Top for this season. It is about $165 give or take.

Brand of the Week 9: Atelier LaDurance
Company: Atelier LaDurance
Website: www.atelierladurance.com
About: The founder of Atelier LaDurance is an avid fanatic for vintage denim jeans, as the denim line conveys this enthusiasm. Located in France, the brand reminds me of Hermes of denim, as everything is meticulously made by hand.
Why I like them: From what I can tell, the attention to detail. I am a sucker for it too. The products speak for themselves without having an absurd amount of advertising. The 'Weekend Bag' is something I aspire to owning for myself.
Where to buy:
Context Clothing
Cultizm
Notes: Each pair of jeans come with a repair kit featuring the following: Two 2-color brass buttons, a small piece of denim, a small piece of pocket lining plus a thimble.
NylonTV: WeSC Little Dream exhibition

Alaska in Winter
I cannot recall how I learned about Alaska in Winter. It started when Brandon Bethencourt spent a semester in Alaska, where he started recording music. There are appearances from artist such as Zach Condon from Beirut. I love 'Balkan Lowrider Anthem.' The image I get when I listen to it is hard to describe but I love it.

Brand of the Week 8: Dr Denim Jeanmakers
Company: Dr Denim
Website: www.drdenimjeans.com
About: I really don't know much about the brand other than it was started by three creators who obsessed with the materials.
Why I like them: Very clean and chic. Kind of reminds me of a Swedish interpretation of Ben Sherman; tight fit T-shirts, sleeveless cardigans, slim-fit suits to skinny ties.
