Raw

Magazine Link

G-Star's new Magazine is out. For those, like me, whose newspaper stand does not carry such material can read it through the link I supplied. It covers the concept behind G-Star to an exciting look at the Elwood jean introduced in 1996.

Product Review: WeSC Oboe headphone

WeSC Oboe headphone

I am a fanatic for good music. As much as I like to share what I am listening to, I love owning a great pair of headphones to keep things to myself. When I found out that WeSC started producing phones I was immediately interested.

WeSC Oboe headphone

I read a couple sites mentioning these headphones are not the best in the WeSC line-up. I am no audiophile but I think they are pretty good; especially since I only paid 55 + tax for them. I love the design and how they fit, which are the key components for me buying them. Check out the other headphones from WeSC at their website.

The brands above is a catalog of clothing entities I highly favor. Some bought and owned while others are aspiring purchases. Many caught my attention because of two thing: 1) they are obscure 2) I like what they offer. Currently I am on this pursuit of having a diverse array of uncommon and distinct apparel to my collection.

Sometimes I fall into this pattern of buying a particular brand I strongly like for a certain period of time; over saturating my wardrobe. At this point the luster of what drew me a particular brand is now lost. I guess this can be applied to eating pizza everyday - it just gets old.

There was a time when I bought a lot of Obey shirts. Another time when I was obsessed with WeSC. For the last 8 months I have been heavily into G-Star Raw again. Every time I look at clothes online, you can bet that I am scanning for new G-Star products.

Maybe I should force myself to buy from other brands such as the ones on my list (some of these are women's-only brands so don't expect to get anything for myself from them). I guess there are some products I feel like I need. There are plenty of G-Star jeans in my closet but I have only one top and no outerwear pieces. Once I get a few more things I am sure I can move on and buy some stuff from Mjolk and Freeman T. Porter for the pursuit of a well balanced wardrobe.

Product Review: G-Star Raw Astro Straight

DSC08326[1]
Pictures taken before first wash. Jeans fit well but are now snug after the first wash.

Some may recall the jeans I posted in my Essentials: Straight Leg post I updated. I did buy them (31x30 dimensions) for $140 (originally $176) a couple weeks ago at Revolve Clothing.

G-Star Astro

The jeans are wonderful. Initially the waist was a bit loose but after the first washing they now fit even better. It wasn't as if I required a belt but a tad bit loose for my tastes. The length of the jean seems to run a bit longer but are not long enough to drag onto the floor by any means. The Astro jeans are 16 inches at the leg opening; slightly slimmer than most straight leg jeans that typically run about 17 to 17.5 inches.

G-Star Astro
Notice the pre-fading on the thigh.

The jeans are pre-distressed around the butt and thigh yet rest of the jeans are very dark in wash. Unlike other G-Star jeans I own it seems the dye does rub or fade slightly. Unlike raw jean products from other brands, that dry-bleed just by rubbing your hands against them, these do hold their tone just but not as well as other G-Star offerings. I kind of like the idea that my jeans appearence will change in accordance to my body and how I wear them.

I do recommend the jeans to anyone. The style is appealingly simple with a G-Star aesthetic.

NylonTV + Chanel

I am a huge fan of Karl Lagerfield and Chanel.

NylonTV: Vans Factory

Dani goes to the Vans factory to ride a board and design some sick shoes.I wish I could make my own Vans shoes. The versions Dani made are pretty sick.

Adaptations

There will be changes to this blog. It comes down to not having an internet connection at the apartment yet, which is why I have not posted anything new for some time. The biggest change is I will no longer be composing Brand of the Week features since it is hard to post consistently as I have this self-inforced deadline of every Sunday, which I feel are rushed articles rather than refined reads.

I will keep them for now as keepsakes but I am looking at what other ways I convey my enthusiasm for such clothing. Also I will be doing more product reviews in the near future. Expect to see some in a couple of days.
